-
-
Note the elastic hook on the labial surface of the canine.

Note that the design is left and right specific with traditionally, three sizes: 23, 25 & 27mm measured from the center of the molar to the center of the canine.
-
-
Instruction for placement. Grasp the bow with bracket holder.
-
-
Apply super glue to the bondable pads. This simulates the bonding resin used to place any bondable orthodontic bracket.
-
-
Carefully place Carriere Motion appliance on the buccal surface of the UL3 and UL6. Clinically, these would have been pumiced, etched and dried, with bonding agent applied.
-
-
Tease the appliance into place being careful to get the molar pad on the central buccal groove area of the UL6 and the canine pad in the center of the UL3. Apply accelerator.
-
-
Note the anchorage for this appliance: Full B & B with .016 x .022ss aw / FRLA. Alternative is an Essix vacuum form retainer w/ bonded hooks on the buccal of the 6’s or hooks cut into the Essix.
-
-
Grasp a Force One elastic with the Mathieu flat tip
needle holder.
-
-
Place one end on the LL6 gingival hook. Place the other end on the UL3 Carriere hook. This will be the way the patient is to wear the elastic.
-
-
The appliance requires proprietary elastics: Force Ones are 6 oz. 1/4”. Force two are 8 oz. 3/16”. F1 are worn 24/7 except eating & brushing for 1 –1.5 months. F2 are then worn 24/7 for 6-9m’s.
-
-
Worn as instructed, the UL3,4,5 & 6 will move en masse from class II to a class I. After overcorrection is achieved the appliance is removed and the upper arch is B&B for SWS.
