Develop a Strong Foundation in Orthodontics with an AOS Course
The demand for orthodontic care is high, and many dentists with general or family practices find themselves regularly referring patients to orthodontists for treatment. To mitigate the need for outside referrals, a growing number of dentists are choosing to continue their education by taking a basic orthodontic course.
The American Orthodontic Society presents Dr. Bradford Williams’ Basic Straight Wire Course for any general, family, or pediatric dentist who hasn’t found success with other orthodontic courses. Dentists taking their first course in orthodontic treatment are also welcome.
Pursuing an education in orthodontics yields many rewards for dentists.
After implementing the skills and knowledge adopted from the Basic Straight Wire course, you’ll find that your diagnostic skills in all facets of dental care will be elevated. Your practice will be up-to-date with a high-demand service, encouraging new patients to choose you as their general or family practice. Naturally, loyal patients will choose you for their orthodontic treatment rather than an unfamiliar face.
Let’s take a closer look at what’s included in this comprehensive course.
What You’ll Learn From The Basic Straight Wire Orthodontic Course
“I have taken multiple orthodontic courses but did not have the confidence to jump into a case until I took Dr. Williams’ course. He gave me the confidence to start orthodontics in my general practice and he is always there to answer any questions you may have, even outside of class.” —Pariksha Gunnala, DDS • Grapevine, TX
The Basic Straight Wire Course is specifically designed for general and pediatric dentists who haven’t yet incorporated orthodontics into their practices. Many students have some knowledge of orthodontic basics from unrelated courses but don’t yet feel confident to begin treatment with their patients.
Orthodontic Course Goals for Dentists
The primary goal of this course is to provide a foundation of education that will prepare dentists to move forward with straight wire orthodontics in their practice, allowing them to treat up to 80% of their own patient cases.
Following the end of the course, dentists will know how to:
- Diagnose and treat Class-l and Class-ll malocclusions.
- Band and bracket teeth.
- Analyze cephalometric data for diagnosis and treatment.
- Incorporate orthodontics into practice in a practical manner.
