Williams Update Weekends

The Williams Update Weekends are two-day weekend courses held once a year and are designed for doctors familiar with Straight Wire treatment, mechanics, and concepts. The focus of the program will be a hands-on approach to mechanics and techniques necessary to properly finish and detail cases. (16 CE credit hours)

Orthodontic Treatment Strategies & Case Finishing for Early Intervention (Phase I) Non-Extraction Straight Wire Mechanics

Course Description:

This course will teach practical clinical strategies for diagnosis, planning and treating primary and mixed dentition, using “airway conscious” principals ultimately improving and simplifying the comprehensive treatment in the adolescent patient.

Course Objectives:

  • Review The Williams” Diagnosis & Treatment Planning System
  • Review The Basic Cephalometric Analysis
  • Learn Treatment Mechanics In Phase I
  • Learn Phase I Treatment Strategies and Retention
  • Review Early Growth and Development
  • Review Early Diagnosis and Intervention
  • Understand Airway “Aware” Orthodontics

Course Fee:

The Williams Update Weekend course is $995 for AOS members, $1095 for non-members, and $495 per assistants. 16 CE credit hours for full participation. Refund policy is 50% of course fee two weeks prior to course start date. American Orthodontic Society (AOS) membership is required at the time of registration (separate $375 fee applies and is non-refundable).

A list of instruments students MUST purchase to perform the hands-on exercises will be provided upon registration confirmation. These instruments are standard orthodontic tools to be used in your clinical practice following the course.

Orthodontic Treatment Strategies: Phase II Update Course

Course Description:

Participants in this 2-day lecture/video demonstration course will learn practical and innovative strategies for solving many of the common problems faced in orthodontic treatment mechanics. The fabrication and assembly workflows for the following procedures will be covered.

Course Objectives:

  1. The Multi-Distalizing Appliance, MDA-SS
    a: POST MDA .016x.022 NiTi recovery of the 4’s & 5’s
    b: POST MDA .016x.022 SS retract 4’s & 3’s
    c: POST MDA .018 x.025 SS retraction of the anteriors
  2. Closed Arch Mechanics w/ .021 x .025 Braided NiTi Wire
  3. Goodman Torquing Auxiliaries
  4. Alternative Expansion with .040 SS –Buccal Big Daddy
  5. Placement & use of Mini mold attachments
  6. Ectopic Canine Strategies
  7. Molar Uprighting Springs
  8. Fabrication of Cross arch elastics & sectionals- .018 x.025 stainless steel
  9. Fabrication of lower bonded 3×3 Using Bond-a-Braid

Examples of each of these strategies in real patient/clinical cases will be shown. Time will be allowed for case finishing questions as well as case reviews.
